Eleanor Dean joined ACIAR in February 2017 as General Manager, Outreach and Capacity Building. She leads ACIAR’s communication, stakeholder engagement and capacity building programs. Eleanor is building a more proactive and high profile outreach program designed to engage a range of audiences including the research community, decision makers in Australia and partner countries, and the broader community. She is also working to develop ACIAR’s capacity building program to include new activities targeting women and Australian researchers alongside our successful PhD, Masters and leadership programs.
A communication honours graduate from the University of Canberra, Eleanor has worked in public affairs and communication for the Australian Government for more than 23 years, on a range of issues including heritage, pollution, natural resource management, biodiversity, arts, education and training and superannuation. Eleanor comes to ACIAR from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority where she led the safety promotion and communication branch.
