Coconut embryo culture has many applications, foremost of which is in the facilitation of germplasm movement. Zygotic embryo culture has the potential for use in in-vitro selection work for drought tolerance, for rescuing potentially abortive types such as Makapuno, for use with cryopreservation techniques and for embryo cloning.
