ACIAR’s 5-year strategy describes how ACIAR will, through international agricultural research partnerships, achieve more-productive and sustainable agricultural systems, for the benefit of developing countries and Australia. The strategy aims to deliver productivity gains that help create opportunities for smallholder farmers to transition into sustainable, market-oriented production, in line with the broader Australian aid program strategy of promoting economic growth in our region. This strategy also recognises the important role that women play in agriculture. It introduces rigorous benchmarks and strengthens performance measures. Measuring performance will ensure that agriculture-sector research impacts on policy and practice in partner countries, and contributes to economic growth and reduces poverty.
