Agriculture: New directions for a new nation East Timor (Timor-Leste)

Summary

An urgent task in the newly emerging nation of East Timor is to develop a sustainable agricultural sector. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the present situation and potential magnitude of agricultural development in East Timor. The papers, covering cropping, livestock, forestry, fisheries and education, were presented at an international conference on 'Agriculture in East Timor' in Dili and it is hoped they will contribute to the base of locally-relevant information to assist future efforts to develop agriculture in East Timor.
