Productive use of saline lands

Salt-affected soils pose hazardous conditions for plant establishment. Two projects funded by ACIAR have been investigating the use of forage shrubs and woody species for saline areas in Pakistan. This workshop enabled delegates from several countries to share experiences and demonstrate that salt-tolerant plants can be grown successfully and productively under a variety of conditions which are not suitable for conventional agricultural crops.
