Research that works for developing countries and AustraliaInternational Water Management InstituteOverviewThe sustainable management and use of water and land resources in agriculture, and the water needs of developing countries are the basis of the research partnership between Australia and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). Australia supports the work of the Institute in developing tools and methods to build the capacity of, and delivery of effective water and land management practices. IWMI receives AUD500,000 (in 2005-06) as core funding from Australia, as well as funding directed to specific projects. IWMI projects operate throughout Asia and Africa. For more information about IWMI's work, see its website, http://www.iwmi.cgiar.org. IWMI produce regular publications that give an indication of their current activities and future plans. These include an Annual Report which looks that their activities over the calendar year 2006, and a Medium-Term Plan that details their organisational direction (available by contacting IWMI). It also includes an External Program and Management Review which is done by the CG Science Council. |
