Research that works for developing countries and Australia

Partner country priorities

ACIAR undertakes consultations with partner countries (including its major partners China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, the Pacific region and Vietnam) to help establish the main priority areas for research funding. In addition informal meetings are regularly held to discuss priorities.

The program of country consultations operates on a four–year rolling basis. In some countries, these consultations are backed up by other discussions which focus on administrative and program implementation matters.

ACIAR is moving towards a more targeted program of research with each partner country and region, to help ensure that project outputs build on each other to improve livelihoods of smallholder farmers. For countries where regular formal consultations are held, the full record of the most recent consultation is attached to the section.
