ACIAR's operations are divided into Research & Development and Corporate

Research & development activities include:

• Research Program Areas
• Impact Assessment Program
• Strategy & Policy (including capacity building)

The Multilateral Program facilitates ACIAR's investment, on behalf of the Australian Government, in the International Agricultural Research Centres. Funding is divided between core funding and specific projects, administered through the Research and Development Programs.

Corporate activities include:

• Communications & Public Affairs
• Finance
• Governance & Parliamentary Liaison
• Human Resources
• Knowledge Management
• Information Technology & Intrastructure
