Wanted: Volunteer agricultural research officer in Hanoi
A pig farmer from Dong Nai province, Vietnam, who benefitted from previous ACIAR-supported pig projects.
An Australian volunteer is being sought to work on an ACIAR research project that is helping the Vietnamese pig industry improve productivity and reduce animal and human health risks.
The agricultural research officer will work in Hanoi for 18 months with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).
The aim of the role is to help build local capacity in data collection through field surveys and data management, and to strengthen communication and dissemination of the research.
The position is suited to someone who has previous experience with survey-based research projects and data analysis, community-based activities involving farmers and other local stakeholders, and a knowledge of value chain analysis. A bachelor degree in economics, agricultural economics, agriculture, social science or related area is essential.
