Minister Smith met with Pakistan Foreign Minister Qureshi

On Monday 16 February Minister Smith travelled to Peshawar, Pakistan, to meet with Foreign Minister Qureshi.

Minister Qureshi and and Minister Smith discussed expanding bilateral relationships, including enhanced economic links and ways in which Australia can assist Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism.

Included in the discussion was Australia's commitment to providing ongoing assistance on irrigation management in the mango, citrus and dairy sectors, through the Agriculture Sector Linkages Program (ALSP). ASLP is funded by AusAID and coordinated by ACIAR, and the programs will be extended until 2011.
