PARDI Impact Workshop and Market Day

The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) is hosting a two-day event marking the completion of the first phase of its Pacific Agribusiness Research for Development Initiative (PARDI).

What:  PARDI Impact Workshop and Market Day
When:  Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th June 2015
Where:  Hotel Novotel Suva Lami Bay, Fiji

Since February 2010, PARDI has worked to understand what factors contribute to successful agribusiness development in the South Pacific region – and especially what kinds of agribusiness deliver benefits to rural and coastal communities. Embracing a regional approach that encourages the sharing and adaptation of research, PARDI is supporting supply-chain and market-driven research in the forestry, fisheries and crops sectors. The success of this initiative reflects the strong partnerships between Australian and Pacific research organisations, whilst highlighting Australia’s commitment to meaningful engagement in the region.

The PARDI Impact Workshop: On Monday and Tuesday, a series of presentations will highlight the technical outcomes and implications of PARDI research projects.
To ensure space at the workshops registration is essential.
For details contact Tara McKenzie.

The PARDI Market Day: The market day on Tuesday will feature interactive stalls showcasing PARDI’s products and successes. This is an opportunity for researchers, farmers, government and agribusinesses from across the Pacific to network, share experiences and see at first hand the impact that agribusiness research can contribute to economic and social development in the region.

A closing session on Tuesday evening will allow invited guests to hear Strategic perspectives for inclusive agribusiness development in Fiji and the Pacific from Fiji Government, Australian Government and private sector representatives.

ACIAR sees the PARDI Impact Workshop and Market Day as an opportunity to reflect on the past five years, to celebrate successes and build on our learnings to help develop the next phase of research and development in the Pacific.
