Eleven research managers involved in ACIAR projects have just completed a six-week leadership development program in Australia.
The recipients of ACIAR’s ‘John Dillon’ Fellowship program have all demonstrated outstanding potential as future managers and leaders. The scheme is named in recognition of the late Professor John Dillon, who was one of Australia’s leading agricultural economists and a strong advocate of international agricultural research and collaboration.
The 2011 ‘John Dillon’ Fellows came from Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, and Vietnam. While in Australia they took part in professional communication training, a new leaders’ development program at Mt Eliza Business School, and specially tailored programs to their management training and professional needs.
On 24 March 2011 the Fellows met with the Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, the Hon Richard Marles MP, at Parliament House in Canberra.
Mr Marles urged the fellows to will stay in touch with the people they had met during their visit to Australia, and to nurture these contacts so that the collaboration and exchange will continue to grow.
