Wanted: Volunteer agricultural research officer in Hanoi
An Australian volunteer is being sought to work on an ACIAR research project that is helping the Vietnamese pig industry improve productivity and reduce animal and human health risks.

ACIAR's forestry research in Vietnam
Vietnam is a fascinating country and Australian trees play a very significant role in the forest sector. With a population of more than 85 million, Vietnam is rapidly becoming a modern industrial country. However, about 10% of the people still live in poverty and many of them live in the mountainous rural areas. In 1943, Vietnam had 14.3 million hectares of forest, but in the period until 1995 some 42% of these forests were destroyed, primarily by the expansion of agriculture but also the destruction associated with two wars.
