Aid program initiatives

Aid program initiatives

Australia’s aid program has contributed to global efforts to reduce poverty and ensure food security for all. As a nation we have world-leading skills and people to deliver aid effectively, in ways that make a genuine contribution to benefiting the lives of the poor.

Australia is working with governments and people of developing countries to deliver aid where it is most needed and most effective. One component of that delivery is strategic initiatives, linking the range of Australian expertise to specific issues.

ACIAR’s role works in partnership with other countries to deliver a part of, or a full program, as part of a strategic partnership.

Some of these partnerships are funded through the Overseas Development Assistance – Food Security through Rural Development initiative.

Others are delivered in partnership with AusAID, sometimes with ACIAR leading a component of that work.

The programs and initiatives range across the Asia-Pacific region, and eastern Africa, delivering agricultural research for food security.
