Mandy Gyles

Mandy Gyles is ACIAR’s Public Affairs Officer. Her key role is to promote news and stories about ACIAR’s research and development program. She manages ACIAR media relations, contributes to the ACIAR website, Partners magazine, and other communications activities.

Mandy holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from the University of Sydney and a Masters degree in Rural Science at the University of New England. She has spent most of her career dedicated to communications in agriculture. Mandy gained her grounding in journalism as an ABC Rural reporter and has since worked in communications for AusAID, Biosecurity Australia, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry, Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation, the Pig Research and Development Corporation, amongst other agencies. She has worked in Tonga on an ACIAR-funded South Pacific Smallholder project in the 1980s, and in Samoa advising an AusAID-funded farming systems project.
