Indo-Australian Agricultural Research Forum, 30 September

The Indo-Australian Agricultural Research Forum, sponsored by ACIAR, will follow the fifth World Congress on Conservation Agriculture (WCCA) at the Brisbane Convention Centre on 30 September 2011.
This forum will focus on agricultural research progress and future prospects for further research between India and Australia.
Some of the key Speakers include Dr Indu Sharma, Dr Pat Wall - consultant, Dr Peter Grace from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Dr A.K. Singh from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in India, Dr Neena Mitter from the Queensland Alliance for Agricultural and Food Innovation (QAAFI), Dr Nick Austin, CEO of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and Dr Andrew Noble from ACIAR.
Dr Austin will discuss the evolving research relationship between India and Australia, and clarify recent mixed messages.
Dr Grace will present "Enhancing soil carbon sequestration for improved water use efficiency, productivity and rural incomes", highlighting some large differences and some surprising similarities between the two countries as well as future opportunities.
Dr Singh will be presenting the key issues for continued collaboration in the context of conservation agriculture and water use efficiency for both Australia and India in the future.
Dr Sharma will be presenting in his topic: 'Wheat production Scenario in India in relation to Climate Change'
Dr Noble will present: "Water supply versus demand gaps in India and Australia".
Dr Wall, highlighting his most recent experience in India in the organization of research hubs, will present: "Maximizing technology transfer in rice-wheat systems of India".
"Indo-Australian collaboration on crop improvement and protection, with emphasis on heat tolerance" will be presented by Dr Mitter.
